Renaming sequential files...backwards?

Hey guys,

 

Any idea if there's a quick way to rename a set of files. I have part of an animation that is rendered correctly, but there is a duplicate part of the movie where this section has to go backwards.

 

Normally, files are named sequentially...but they're backwards for this purpose. Renaming 280 files isn't gonna be my favorite thing in the world

I have a freeware program with the same name (can't find a link) but this one looks just as good.

what application are you using for compiling the movie, i'm sure there will be a way to simply tell it to play the clip in reverse. Usually i just scale the clip required by -100% which turns it backwards... i'm pretty sure you can do this in AfterEffects, Premiere & Combustion.

yes simple right click in Premiere. If you have Adobe Bridge, it has a nice batch re-name feature.

It's been a few years since I used renameman but it was as simple as it gets then. Looked like windows explorer a bit.

 

Don't know it it will do backwards.

I agree, and I meant to put that in my post. Sony Vegas can do it too, with just a simple right click on the clip.

Thumbsplus (http://www.cerious.com) will do it as well using the File: Auto Rename function.

 

Specify the highest numbered file as the starting point, and use

-1 (minus one) as the increment.
