Pectabyte
So I've been using OnyxTREE and I have messed around with the wind parameters. Looks nice but how do I animate the tree being blown in the wind and then export the tree and its animation to 3DS max 9?
gfa2
The max plugin for Onyx (I think it's called TreeStorm) has wind settings. So you build a tree in the Onyx program then save it to the Onyx file format and use the max plugin to place the tree in the scene. Then you use the plugin to modify the settings and activate the wind if you want.
Pectabyte
I have tree storm 5 and it doesn't look like there is any kind of plug-in. Just lots of pre-made trees. Where would the plugin be and if I don't have it is there a place I can download it?
gfa2
Tree Storm is the plugin. In max or VIZ you'll find it under the Create tab and then under the drop down menu where it says Standard Primitives, choose Tree Storm.
Pectabyte
Umm... It isnt installed because I don't have it. I have treestorm but it is only a bunch of premade trees. There is no plugin.
Matt Clementson
Sounds like you either haven't installed correctly or haven't gotten the full install. Onyx comes in two parts the creator/editor - called Tree Classic, this runs externally to MAX. And a small .dlo file that's the MAX plugin - TreeStorm - that you need to manually copy into MAX's plugin directory. Once installed it lets you place the trees that you create in Classic into your MAX scene. It also has the wind controls that let you animate the tree. Pectabyte
Ohhh. Okay it looks like Treestorm plugin is NOT compatible with Max9. Damn Bummer... I found the .dlo i put it in the plugins folder but the initializer terminates and doesn't load max when trying to load treestorm.dlo
gfa2
There is a specific version for max 9. They had to recompile it for max 9 so they are charging for that.
