mitchrichie
I am wondering if someone could provide me with the materials you typically get from a client for a practice project I want to do. It can be an old project you've already done or whatever. I just want to go through the process from where you professionals typically start. It would be nice if I could use the images I create for this in my portfolio, but I will not without permission. Thank you! Mark
gfa2
When you say 'materials you typically get from a client' do you mean, manufactuers and model numbers or acutal images maps like .jpg's? I don't know about everyone else, but I have never gotten .jpgs of the materials from a client (I guess that would make my job way too easy). I get finish schedules and stuff like that, but not .jpgs ready to go straight into the rendering.
mitchrichie
By Materials I just meant CAD drawings etc... Things that would come in the brief... Not images for use in the actual rendering.
newdirection
If your looking to practice try these books: Plans, Sections and Elevations: Key Buildings of the Twentieth Century http://www.amazon.co.uk/Plans-Sections-Elevations-Buildings-Twentieth/dp/1856693821/ref=pd_ecc_rvi_1/203-2330376-8891106?ie=UTF8&qid=1191150858&sr=1-1 Details in Contemporary Residential Architecture http://www.amazon.co.uk/Detail-Contemporary-Residential-Architecture-Virginia/dp/1856694828/ref=sr_1_1/203-2330376-8891106?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1191150858&sr=1-1 They come with CDs with drawings. Try and get them from a library if you can to see if it's what you want. The second one is better for understanding detailing. In my limited experience clients vary in what they give you. Some provide far too much detail and just burn the entire project folder onto a DVD, some not enough. You have to manage them to get what you need.
