AJLynn
The mineral oil doesn't conduct electricity. But surely there's some reason this won't work as a long term solution...
Jeff Mottle
The mineral oil doesn't conduct electricity. But surely there's some reason this won't work as a long term solution... How about the fact that changing components requires a plastic work area and gloves. Not to mention you can forget warranty repairs. There is another chemical you can use as well for this application, I saw it on TechTV a few years ago, but apparently it's a carcinogen. Glad they were putting their bare hands into the stuff. Mario Pende
And also you need to have somekind of cooling system for your mineral oil.
AJLynn
It would be similar to what they use for normal liquid cooling - a pump and a radiator with a fan.

Tim Nelson
now if they dropped some fries in the world would be perfect. Yeah I wonder if you could use peanut oil instead of mineral oil. You could do some fry-i-lating while you're rendering.
Hazdaz
Max PC (or was it someone else?) did an article on this a while back. As long as the liquid isn't conductive you should be all set... I THINK (not sure) they used distilled water in their PC, but mineral oil sounds like the better - if not messier - solution. It's just such a simple idea, that makes you wanna go "why didn't I think of that?!?"
