Devin Johnston
http://www2.nextlimit.com/newsletter/autumn07/newsletter_aut07.html Displacement is looking good and the 10%-15% speed improvement is a big deal along with the multithreading of the voxelization process, this is good news! AJLynn
If they're finding ways to optimize the engine for more speed without changing the rendered results, that's very encouraging. I hope they're also keeping up with the parts that still need fixing in addition to the new stuff.
Devin Johnston
I asked Nicole if this update would result in a release number change from 1.5 to 1.x and she said they hadn't decided yet. I'm hopeful that it will because that should mean they are introducing more features than just displacement. Someone else posted that motion blur would be fixed and enabled in this next release and that's good news, I just hope instancing is one of the features they are going to sneak in on us. Maximus3D
No i doubt there will be instances in this upcoming release, probably in the next one but not this one. Then we would have seen examples of it. Such a big feature is something they would show us. Although i'm known to be wrong so i could ofcourse be wrong about this to. ..one never knows... / Magnus
AJLynn
I agree - I have seen few examples of NL not showing off a demo when they have a new feature.
Devin Johnston
Sadly you’re probably correct.
