That's a lot of money. Xeon chips aren't labelled "Core 2" by the way. Look for something with two quad-core Xeons, 4GB RAM (and XP 64 but not Vista 64), RAID hard drives and a good Geforce 8800 series video card.

I wish it was for me! haha... it's for some company... I'm not familiar with powerful PCs so I need closer information please.

What's your recommend set?

It depends on your budget. We don't know what this stuff costs in Iran.

Costs in Iran is not so different with Europe. It's not important that stuffs price become exactly 5000$. It's maximum. I need it today so please guide me.

Thanks but as I said, I need exact info. ex. you say Quad, I want know What brand and which model? and some info for RAM, VGA, HARD, MB....

If you are not conversant with the insides of a PC and how it all works together, you are better off buying a ready made unit, based around the processor that has been mentioned above. Its an Intel by the way.

Especially with your timescale. If you buy something from someone who is reputable, at least they should have put it together so each component compliments the others. You could probably gather all the parts separately for cheaper, but, as mentioned, you dont have the timescale or the knowledge to do that in a few hours..;)

I have never had a bad experience with Dell, not the best, but not the worst. Maybe some other guys based closer to you have more experience of other suppliers.

thanks andy,

it's not my system, it's for some office and they ask me firstly give them list of recommend hardware.

They need three different type PC and I make ready two of those, but for main PC, I have not good exprience and my info is not up to date.

I remember (in this forum but cannot find it!) some one suggest a PC with Dual Xeon dual core... I remember "AJLynn" said me that just we have one MB that support dual Xeon... I think that will be good choice...

The Xeon quad series is the E53xx. AKA "Cloverton". Prices from Newegg range from $236 for a 1.6GHz E5310 to $1275 for the 3GHz E5365. It needs a dual socket 771 motherboard - there are several of these out there, so look for what you can get and make sure it's compatible with the chosen CPU by checking the manufacturer's web site. Check the type of RAM required - I think you'll need FBDIMM memory, which is more expensive than standard DDR2 DIMMs.

What you think about this:

CPU WS DUAL XEON E5345 2.33GHz, 8MB cache, 1.33 GHz FSB (Quad-Core)

MB

RAM 4GB FBDIMM DDR2 667 REG ECC (4 -1GB FBDIMMS)

VGA NVIDIA Quadro FX 560 Pro Video Edition

HARD 250GB 7,200rpm SATA 16MB Cache

What you recommend for Motherboard for it? Also what's your idea about VGA? I select Quadro 560, but may be geforce 8800 be better?

hey mohamad

####CPU WS DUAL XEON E5345 2.33GHz, 8MB cache, 1.33 GHz FSB (Quad-Core)

Great cpu's its precisely what i'm looking to buy as well

####RAM 4GB FBDIMM DDR2 667 REG ECC (4 -1GB FBDIMMS)

Depending on the motherboard, i would go for 2 x 2gb FBDIMMS, leaves more space for later upgrades, system like this should be able to handle up to 16 gb or ram using 2gb dimms, might even be cheaper

####VGA NVIDIA Quadro FX 560 Pro Video Edition

EVERYONE i have spoke to has told me to go for the Nvidia 8800 GTX geforce card instead.

####HARD 250GB 7,200rpm SATA 16MB Cache

For Drastic speed increase my informants recommend using a striping raid config.

So far the only problem I've had was to find a intel server motherboard.

no SLI options available, and no Workstation boards with SLI support xeon processing. besides all that buying a brand name system like dell with that configuration almost doubles the price.

Yeah, the Quadro 560 is pretty useless. It costs almost as much as an 8800GTS without being nearly as powerful.

I wouldn't worry too much about not having SLI. The advantages of having 8 cores will far outweigh the advantages of having 2 GPUs.

thanks Pietre, great help.

About VGA, I never work with quadro, but I'm so interest to compare it with fx seriex. I know the Quadro 560 is so old, but The quadro series are expensive.

Now, if you think that baudjet for VGA be 1000$, what you will suggest?

About hard, sure striping raid will be great. (I currectly use it.)

But yet I don't know what must suggest for Motherboard?!
