Tim Saunders
I posted this in the viz forum, but I'm not getting any hits. I think the 2 forums should be merged anyway, but that's just my opinion. I have 2 stucco colors I want to put on some walls. I can only see the top color. To test it, I can apply the mat to spheres, teapots & toruses and it works fine. But, any time I put it on n object with a straight edge like a wall, a box, or even a cone, it only shows one color. What's up with that?
Chad Warner
I just checked out the help file, and it says that the top material is defined by normals that face up, and the bottom is defined by normals that face down, so perhaps since a box has faces that do neither, it doesn't know how to react. I was able to get it to do two colors if the position amount was set to 90. What if you used a blend material instead with a gradient ramp to define which material went on top and which on the bottom?
Tim Saunders
A blend material is exactly what I have done for the past couple years, the only problem with that is having to adjust the map used if it repeats at the top of the wall. Easy quick fix, I just figured the top/bottom material would do the same without requiring me to load a map. Oh well. Old way worked just fine.
