muchhal.sandeep@gmail.com
Hi all, I am currently working on a night rendering and facing a problem regarding lighting. I am using photometric point lights to lit up the scene but it can be used only in balconies or small niches since i make them as lamps. and taking logarathmic exp control without making the exterior daylight on. till this time it is ok. I have to add a skylight into my scene to lit up the surrounding surfaces and other planes. When i add it I have to make the EXT DAYLIGHT option on otherwise it washes the scene and when I make it on then my POINT lights becomes of appx no use. Facing problems in somewhere in settings. Kindly guide me how shall I proceed. or the suggestive lighting system to be adopted so that I have shining lights in niches and dull on my subsidary surfaces. Regards: Ar. mesht
you have increased the intensity value of your photometric lights, by around 33 times the original value, for eg. if you are using a halogen downlight of 100W, which in cd value is 1833.6 and multiply it by 33. i faced similar problems too when combining photometric and daylight/skylight. the intensity of the daylight is very intense so the original value for photometric lights have to be increased. one of the options is to control the intensity of the sun, or use environment map. alternatively, you could also use a HDRI image to illuminate your scene without washing out the details. hope this helps
