chow choppe
Hi alll I have 2 questions 1.) i made something using revsurf command but after copying it several times in my scene it has become too slow can i convert them to solid with any command in autocad 2007 making them again with revolve and copying them will tak a lot of time. 2.) If an object say a railing design is to be copied several times in a scene is there a way which doesn't slow down the scene. when i put every railing in my apartments scene it becomes too slow to navigate , i am using a very good 6600Gt PCI express card. other scenes work fine thanks
kippu
6600 is not a very good card.... the scene is slow because of that card...
gfa2
Yeah, that card is what...2 generations old. Plus there comes a point, no matter what kind of card you have that scene management is more and more important. In complex scenes you just can't have everything on all the time and expect the feedback to be zippy. In ACAD i'd suggest setting up some layer states and use them to control what you see while your working on different parts of the model.

chow choppe
the first reply from mr Kippu diverted the topic in some other direction . Nobody answered whether there is any way to convert revsurf ojects to solids
neko
i think it went that way because you asked two questions. the one about the card was easier to answer. the one concerning converting a revsurf object to a solid is not. i can't see any way around it other than to go back to the original profile and use revolve instead. however, if you think converting it to a solid will speed up the scene, i think you are mistaken. leave it as a surface mesh and just freeze the layer as i suggested. hope that helps

This LISP routine works with all open meshes created with REVSURF, RULESURF, EDGESURF, TABSURF, AI_MESH, and 3DMESH. http://www.cadimage.net/cadtutor/lisp/files/m2s.lsp
