JagaJazzist
Hi CGA Fans Im currently trying to decide on a dissertation title for my third year 3D course and im very intersted in CG Architecture but need a questioning title which would have an outcome or conclusion. I am focusing on interior design with a bent towards realism. All suggestion would be gratefully welcomed. Also if any company member or freelance artist would be interested in 6 months research by myself based on the final title my university runs a scheme to link the industry with 3rd year projects. I would be willing to base my research on a set title by a company and/or individual intersted in a collaboration. Thanks for your time. Dave Buckley
my dissertation title was 'the use of advanced lighting and rendering to create photorealistic visualisations', its a massive subject but you could ask your self 'mental ray vs vray - an investigation into which rendering engine best meets the needs of todays arch viz designers' but i can guarantee that if you wanted to do something along those lines then you should have started before you knew you were going to uni. so in that case choose a really small area and investigate it into incredible detail, proving the points you are making as you go along, and don't think that just because you like the look of stunning renders that your project will be just as exciting. If your doing a BSc then the examiners want to know technical info about the workings behind the render engine etc (how the image was created)

Dave Buckley
no probs, make sure you stick to your title aswell, do not stray away from it (or try not to where possible, you will find so many things interesting as you go along but ask yourself whether these are necessary contributors in answering your question, if not then don't waste time, if it is a vital factor that you never knew about, then get researching. i've already told you what the title of mine was but that soon turned into 'an investigation into how mental ray works at a technical level (technical meaning algorithms) and after a year i am still learning now another 6 months on, there is just so much too learn. don't be put off though, you get out of your dissertation everything that you put in. its worth it in the end. trust me
skywalker
Your dissertation should be on what your research is about and the theory behind it. If you are doing interior visualization I would do my research on direct and indirect lighting to creating a realistic rendering. Explaining your analysis on how vray or mental ray works in interior visualization is a good dissertation and it would also cover enough ground in that area. Also a additive to your research could be in the area of composition and design. Take enough time and research in order develop a good theory that will conclude your piece. Good Luck....................
