Lee Eagle
Hey Guys, I am a newbie to Max and Vray. I built a room with a window and used a direct light. I want to place a plane on the window that will act as glass and will let the rays of the direct light enter the room. whenever I try and place the plane, the rays of the direct light dont pass through the plane, they block it...can someone pls tell me what I am doing worng? bmcgonigle
Hi! I'm new to all this as well but what I discovered is that you need to assign a glass material to the plane in order for the light to pass through it. Otherwise VRay just treats it like a solid with no transparent values. Hope that helps!
Arkitec
I would assume they have set up a glass material for glass...... the trick is to check off - affect shadows in the material slot under refractions.... This will allow the "shadows" to appear...... Arkitec
Lee Eagle
Hey Guys, Thanks for your help :-) What solved the problem was "exculding" the window, I forgot about that one..silly me
chow choppe
Lee eagle: yea that wud be another way than what "Arkitec mentioned another workaround is to select glass plane >>>>>right click>>>>>properties>>>>>uncheck cast shadows. That wud solve the problem just for that plane But doing it in the material editor will solve th problem for every object that has been assigned that material So depends on the choice Hope that helps
