landrvr1
Has anyone successfully gotten the final 1.5 to work with their farm and the new dongle program? If so, did your license server need a dongle? Any truth to the rumour that VRay will issue a non-dongle version of 1.5 final in special cases? NickG
we are running 1.5 without a problem on our farm. yes, there is a dongle on the license server. was actually very straight forward - surprisingly. the only thing we noticed, and unfortunately we updated 1.5 and SP2/productivity pack at the same time the overall setup seems to be less stable. Max crashes again... don't know about dongle free versions. NG
Crazy Homeless Guy
we are running a usb hub with 3 individual vray usb keys plugged into the hub on a seperate computer that is only running windows xp. our computer are able to access the licenses without a problem, and our renderfarm can recognize that licenses exist without a problem. yes, the computer we have the hub has to have a vray license server running on it. when you install 1.5 final i beleive one of the options is to set up a license server only machine. C.Vestal
carzy, how big is your farm? 10+?
Crazy Homeless Guy
yes, over 10. we have had around 20 servers rendering at one time. i feared this was going to be a problem also, given that XP only allows 10 connections, but it does not seem to be a problem. the one thing i did have to do to get the setup to work was creating a share on the computer with the dongles that gratned full access to everyone. i granted this to the C drive. this is an old computer than only manages our BackBurner, Vray, and RPC managers or license servers. Jeff Mottle
As far as I am aware they are no longer offering the software licensing system. Also, if you have a lot of dongles and are using them on a hub, you can also contact Chaos and they can send you a code to re-flash one of your USB keys so all of your licenses can reside on one dongle. Crazy Homeless Guy
originally i thought we had requested one dongle for our licenses, but they sent 3, each with one license. we tried the hub, and it worked. we decided to stick with it because it gave us flexibility if one of us needed to travel and take a license of vray with us. Roest
We have problems with 1.50 BB and farm, well the farm works but my own computer will not help rendering on a bb job as the workstation of my college won't appear in my bb available clients. I have contacted Autodesk about this and they say i must try to install the new backburner2007.1.0.231 on our workstation and now its working! hope this helps
