RAVIZ
Hello I want to buy workstation for MAX+Vray modelling and rendering. Now I use Mac PRO QuadCore. It's a great machine but but after installing Acad and PS, Viz started to report problems with internet acivation. I would like to avoid such problems so rather I focus on typical Win based Workstations. I checked HP, IBM and few other companies - there is nothing so powerfull as Mac Pro 8-core. Could you suggest what box I can buy for 7k EUR with minimum 8-cores and available in UK/Ireland? Thanks in advance.....Raphael
AJLynn
Is the Mac using Bootcamp, Parallels, VMWare or some combination? I know that if you switch between Bootcamp and VMWare you can lose you Autodesk product activations. My advice would be first to call Autodesk for support with the activation problem, and to use Viz only in Bootcamp. If you want Vray, you can use that with Viz. This is all to avoid buying an 8-core box to replace an 8-core box, since there are better things to do with 7000 Euro. If you really do want to spend the money on a new computer, one thing you should be aware of is that Intel is in production on a 3.2GHz Quad Xeon and Apple has reserved nearly the entire supply for the first few months. RAVIZ
Thank you for reply. I use BootCamp. Everything works perfectly except Viz. In meantime I checked offer of other companies - I found Dell Precision with 8 cores, unfortunately it seems this computer is available only in USA. AJLynn
Is there any other reason you need a new computer, beyond Viz licensing not working? For 7K I'll gladly fly over there and help you get it working
JamesTaylor
we use some dual quad core xeon machines from fujitsu, they are supplied via microCAD who are based in North England, http://www.microcad.co.uk i'm pretty sure they are less than 7K euros also. if you were to get in contact with them please mention that you have been pointed in their direction by myself and 3dcom

RAVIZ
Thank you for all answers. The issue with activation is one thing, but we still need more rendering power (as always ) So thats the main reason of upgrade. I'll try this link http://www.microcad.co.uk. Octopus, could you write more about this computer? It sounds very interesting. Regards.....Rafal
