Extra prepass in animation?!

Hi.

i"m working on an animation with 2000 frames. I use a precalculated irradiencemap (from file) i do not use multipass.

Why does vray an extra prepass before rendering?

This cost me about 5 min!! x 2000 :S

Someone knows why?

as far as i know i don't use any materials with interpolation...

Thanks for the reply james,

I do not use interpolation myself, I've checked the materials i've imported.

But i will check again for sure.

Is this the only way vray puts in an extra pass?

EDIT

This extra pass is only calculated if i use an irradiancemap "from file". If i render the same image with a new "single file" irradiance map and light cache there is no extra prepass....

Not sure if this will help.......

Try downloading the The VRay Automator v1.0 [iNTERFACE] Maxscript.

http://www.metinseven.com/goodies/nl/

Handy tool for globally controling lights, and VRAY material settings. You may have a material checked to use interpolation, the tool allows you to change all settings at once, and maybe will change one you are missing or might not see.

THanks chewbacca!

this tool seems quiet handy!

I already found the material with the interpolation on, but it took me more than an hour to find this material...after i unchecked this the render time is about 30%

well , next time i will use this tool!

Thanks again
