Mike T
Does anyone know of a way to convert a Formz file (.fmz) into a 3ds file without owning the Formz app. Maybe a plugin or translator, anything. Please let me know.
Crazy Homeless Guy
FormZ is one of the regular tools in my modeling box. There is no direct way to bring a FormZ file into Max, and you probably won't find a translator either. Typically we save out a DWG and then FileLink them into Max. If you want, email me your file, I will save it out as a DWG, and send it back.
Mike T
That would be awesome. I am currently waiting for the file that I've requested from the client today. I most likely won't receive it until Monday with a slim chance that I'll get it today. How would you like me to send it to you. Linking the maps or having materials at all will not be necessary because I have to convert them anyway. I realllllly appreciate your help to an extent you can't comprehend. Crazy Homeless Guy
if you want to make your life easy, i would have the person that is sending you the file organize the layers by material, and have them save out the a dwg. it will make your job a lot easier. ...otherwise, simply email me the the .fmz file, and i will save it out. i am out of town over the weekend, and Monday, but after that, no problem. Frosty
What Travis said. One of the best features of FormZ is its ability to import/export just about anything.
tecton3d
not sure if this will work with 3d files (probably not) but you used to be able to change the file extension (.xxx) at the end of a file. you could always copy the original and test... rename the formZ file xxxxx.3ds and see if that imports. Antisthenes
it isn't ZPR, zcorp file format? because if so like sketchup rhino opens and saves it and other formats that could be a option
