thickly
there are many times that I need to zoom in very tight to try to place an object precisely but then my move gizmo is out of the viewport. Is there any way to keep the gizmo visible without affecting the pivot point? I usually would use the align tool for locating objects but sometimes this doesn't work well on objects with an irregular shape. thanks in advance for any help. DavidR
I don't have a fix for this, but it really bugs me, too. The only way I've found is to select the gizmo, lock the selection, zoom in. I think Max needs a 'proxy' gizmo for selected objects that are off screen.
Zdravko Barisic
NO, we'll have to wait for MAX 11 for that tip, even it is very simple to write, meanwhile you can play w/F5/F6/F7/F8 buttons for X/Y/Z/XY axes.
thickly
thanks for the replies -- I was hoping that it was my inexperience that was the cause of the problem, looks like it is a program shortcoming. This would be extremely useful for me since the align tool does not work well for some of the more irregular shaped objects. SD
ipxstudios
you can scale the gizmo and other settings in preferences. Gizmo scaling has worked for me.

Can you get that gizmo is always visible on the screen? Independent from zooming?
