Nic H
I just found modelup.com from a advertisment on the side of cgarchitect. Its a great site with excellent quality models, all for $ 1 USD, very cheap (no i don't work for them!) The best thing is most of the models are copies of 'real life' objects. I have already found some fittings / furniture that clients have requested. I recommend checking it out next time you need a specific bit of furniture, they also have vray ready models and the poly count is displayed on the site. Very helpful. These wipe the floor with all those awful evermotion models! http://www.modelup.com
Aaron2004
Thanks for the link! Kind of wish they had more models but there are a few in here that I can certainly use.

jophus14
Are the models broken down pretty well? What I mean is if I were to order a sofa, are the arms seperate from the cushions which are seperate from the backing?

Ernest Burden III
Does anyone know what happened to modelup? I went to buy some stuff but its gone and i get a 404? I guess somebody's server isn't feeling well today. I'm sure its nothing beyond that.
EddieLeon
I guess somebody's server isn't feeling well today. I'm sure its nothing beyond that. I guess the server caught my cold The site is back up and running. I apologize for the inconvenience. Our hosting company updated the software on our server and we had some issues. Has anyone else been having issues with Peer1? I'm thinking of changing to something more reliable. Nic, Let me know if you find what you are looking for on the site. If not, we can custom model it for you. Eddie

I've used Earthlink for many years, and they've been very reliable. Jeff has spoken highly of his hosting company, I forget their name though. Jeff Mottle
I've used Earthlink for many years, and they've been very reliable. Jeff has spoken highly of his hosting company, I forget their name though. I used to use Alentus, and were really good at the beginning, but I think we outgrew them. Now we host at RackSpace, which is about as good and expensive as it gets. I pay more for my two servers each month than my mortgage! But their service is pretty impeccable and I have yet not to have someone answer the phone on the second ring. At Rackspace if your site went down, they would be on it within 10 min and be working to get it back up for you.
EddieLeon
Thanks Jeff! That's the kind of service I need. Rackspace sounds like a great choice. My sites don't get nearly as much traffic as yours, so I hope I won't need to pay another mortgage

I'm sure Earthlink doesn't know I exist and wouldn't care even if they did, but I'm probably shelling out more per month to Starbucks for my wake-up juice than hosting my three domains. EddieLeon
...but I'm probably shelling out more per month to Starbucks for my wake-up juice than hosting my three domains. I hope Earthlink is really cheap. That could be a lot of "wake-up juice"
Ernest Burden III
I hope Earthlink is really cheap. That could be a lot of "wake-up juice" Have you seen what Starbucks charges for a Latte? It adds up fast. You know the old saying about drug pushers--the first one's free. Earthlink is certainly reasonable and professional. My hosting is pro-grade, PHP-ready, etc, but wouldn't be anywhere near the level CGarchitect would need. I'm sure they could be competitive for a site like this or Modelup, I'm just not at that level of traffic or content or c.c. processing/fulfillment. Those things cost more anywhere you go. Richard Rush
I moved my site to http://www.futurequest.net/ last year and have been very pleased. I now have more server space at lower cost, improved email handling, and all-around better service and support. But I'm not really knowledgeable about these things beyond the basics, and my requirements are simple. Richard

I'm still suffering from withdrawal symptoms after I went cold turkey on the tall frapuccinos. But, now that summer is coming around I might fall off the wagon again Earthlink is a great company. They have been around for a while, so I bet they are doing things right. I will definitely consider them also. Thanks!
