AJLynn
Vista 64 isn't supported yet. Neither is XP64, though if you do some Google searching you'll find people using it. But Vista is never the answer.
Ky Lane
I got XP Pro32 running on my octocore mac pro perfectly, although the release of leopard is apparently a major upgrad ein performance - although i dont see how!
xeunox
I've installed XP64 and it is running without any issues. i still need some drivers but the system is stable and works like a charm. I've also installed Win server 2008 64bit without any issues, just to check. I'm waiting for my copy of vista business 64bit, will post here on progress. Other thing i want to ask is what memory does the mac pro use, i know its fbdimms ECC registered 667's i just need to know if "Kingston Value Ram Memory 2GB 667MHz DDR2 ECC Fully Buffered CL5 DIMM Dual Rank, x4 Intel certified" will work, there is another FBDIMM 667 type, Kingston Value Ram Memory 2GB 667MHz DDR2 ECC Fully Buffered CL5 DIMM Dual Rank, x8 Intel. i just need to know which one to buy. main difference being the "x8 intel Certified." i don't know what that is. and do these fbdimms come with heatsinks as default, or would i have to get them? Main reason for me running 64 is that i want to upgrade to 8 gigs of ram. and xp/vista 32 does not support it.
Adrian Bold
So Pieter, any feedback on running Vista 64bit on the dual quadcore mac since your last post? And just to confirm, you CAN run ONLY windows on it? (not a dual boot system) Can't help you regarding memory, unless you've found your answer already. If so, please share it
