Dave Buckley
Hi guys i'm currently trying to create some professional credits for a project that i am working on, i was just wondering which software you guys for credits and effects etc, i've played with combustion and i know after effects a little bit. the text effects library in combustion is ok, but really quite cheesy. what are your thoughts? lambros
either use one of them. It is best to keep things simple though, leave the fancy things for the hollywood blockbusters. Simple, elegant, chic text credits leave the best impression in my opinion.
Dave Buckley
the actual effect i am trying to achieve can be found at www.uniform.net then click on . . . Projects then click on . . . Film then click on . . . Blyth Road Project then click on the video link in the bottom right of the window. The text effect i am trying to achieve is shown in that video, it should be the first thing you see. Any ideas how to create it?? I've taken a wild guess at creating the rings in photoshop and using them as a custom particle in combustion. Apply the custom particle to a single point emitter and then animate that emitter moving from left to right, then for the text i could either animate a gradient on the text in time with the emitters movement, or i could animate a mask on the text to follow the emitter. So depending on whether a gradient was animated or whether a mask was animated, i would just slightly delay it from the emitters movement. Would this be the correct process?? Bearing in mind i only installed and attempted to use combustion for the first time yesterday so my terminology may not be quite there
lambros
I guess that there are many ways to do it, these that you are describing should work nicely, but you have to mess a lot with combustion to get your grips on it if you have no prior experience. Judging from your terminology, you seems to know what to do. Good luck
Dave Buckley
well luckily the text effect library in combustion has a preset called 'column 3', this uses text as the particles, however, if i make the ring in photoshop, i can then import this and swap it with the text so that it then becomes the particle. The preset emits the particles in pretty much the way i am trying to achieve. i will however need to play with the emitter and particle settings to get the flow how i need but like many creative projects, trial and error is key. i shall post a video link if possible when i have nailed it hopefully although my combustion isn't working at the minute, it keeps crashing whenever i try to create a new particle effect
