gfa2
I'd say you'll spend so much time cutting trees out that it makes more sense to just buy them. Ambientlight, Got3D and Marlin Studios are good places to get them. If you truly wanted to make your own you can use a big blue tarp for a backdrop behind the tree, then take a digital photo. Photoshop will do a fairly good job of grabbing all the blue and deleting it.
RAYMOND
actually I have done this a lot photoshop has a lot of tools to do this quickly... of course as mentioned what you have as background is key I would be very hard to put a blue background everytime you need a tree pic however as best you can pick trees that have a very different backgound also, some web sites that sell trees offen have pics of the just the tree with a white back gound... also i could send you my library of trees.... a few gems here and there.. IHAB
this can be done by using any files (.tiff) or (.tga) to split alpha channel ,if you dont have them, simply you can render a hi res sence full of trees & bushes in max and exporting it with a/m extensions in 32bit alpha split..then you can always use this file in ps. another tip: sometimes I use magic wand+invert soft selection(nice one).. hope this may help.
