niic
Hi all, We require Poser to generate our characters for our Max renders so we have access to a huge library of people where if the client wishes we can change race, skin colour, hair, clothing, body build etc but my problem is getting that character into Max and interacting with the geometry. We are not looking for Photorealistic so Poser is fine for us and allows for a huge variety of options in terms of visuals. We use alot of material from Dosch and Archmodels (ArchInteriors). We also dont animate here, we only render stills! I'm trying to work out if BodyStudio will be able to solve my Poser characters to Max so we can render in Vray. I am waiting to hear back from Reiss Studio but thought I would also try and see if anyone here has had experience with my situation. The process I think will be used: 1. Create Max scene with all props 2. Create Poser characters 3. Export to Poser an OBJ version of the Max scene so the characters can be posed with the geometry properly i.e. sitting at a desk 4. Use BodyStudio to import correctly posed characters with all their textures into the Max scene 5. Move characters into position 6. Render I really appreciate any help that can be provided. Regards, Nick.
Guest nazcaLine
i have no experience with carachters, but i think it would be easier to get the figure in poser, export the mesh to max and "skin" them, that is, give him a skeleteon (can be biped) that can be easily adjusted to the surrounding geometry. that way you should import only once. and if you have the characters skinned, you can even animate them. good luck Eduardo
lambros
I am also interested in buying bodystudio, I would really appreciate any positive feedback!
Joseph Petrino
Another option worth mentioning is Collada. I have used the Collada importer for Max to get Poser content into my renders and it works really well. Daz Studio (a free program) reads all the poser stuff and exports to collada. It will also import bones and animation. For me, free is always the better option. Hope that helps.
niic
I am also interested in buying bodystudio, I would really appreciate any positive feedback! Hey guys thanks for the input. Lambros, the creators of BodyStudio haven't been too helpful with my inquiries so I decided to look deeper into the situation. I really needed a confirmation that the application would be continued on for Max2008 since this project we are testing hinges on the requirements to export Poser to Max efficiently. They couldn't give me a definitive answer nor a demo to test with. Check out Digimation's GestureMax. This looks far more promising and they have great technical support with inquiries and so far have been working with me well. http://toolfarm.stores.yahoo.net/dige.html I am waiting to hear back with a confirmation that Max2008 will be on the plugins next release in addition with testing a demo version. nazcaLine, unfortunately Max must be the end of the line so we can utilize Vray and all our fabricated asset libraries (along with backburner). We need to setup in Poser to the client requirements then export to max with the rig - re rigging in Max will be too time consuming for us since our turnover is very tight. I think GestureMax will solve our issues! Joseph, Collada was something I briefly looked at but it doesn't support everything we need unfortunately. However that research led me to look at it for some Flex applications we have coming up. Very cool for that and will be interesting to see how far we can push it! Cheers all
Joseph Petrino
Try searching in the Poser forum and the Max forum on this site http://www.renderosity.com/ I have heard in the past that body studio does work as advertised, but I don't know any specifics.
