sdds
please help someone! I am doing my first build - so far the cpu, fan & ram fitted, all fine no real problems.. but when placing the motherboard into the case I noticed raised screw holes that lined up with the board -- after fitting the brass placers the motherboard was raised so high that I couldn't fit the sockets to the back panel and the graphics card can't be screwed into place... without the spacers it all fits fine and nothing on the back of the board touches the case (as far as I can see). this is a pain.. sdds
please... someone must have an idea... I am fitting into a Sharkoon Rebel 9 ECONOMY case, and screw holes are raised about a centimeters from the case base without the spacers. The case came with no manual... Macer
Err, I'm not familiar with the case, but the main thing is that the back of the MB (ie the back of the components including the copper strips and solder) doesn't touch any metal (ie the case surface) allow a short out to occur. If the stand offs built into the case only touch the green (or whatever colour your board is) parts of the MB and not any metal, you should be alright. Sorry I can't be of more help. sdds
thanks, I figured I didn't need the spacers and have bolted it down and finished the wiring.. I fired it up and everything worked....except the cpu fan, it won't work!
IceAged
Have you plugged the fan into the motherboard?
sdds
success!! wooohooo!!! the cpu fan was set in the BIOS to come on only when needed, I've set a buzzer incase it fails in the future.. am loving this, works great... I was worried about powering up for the first time, incase a wire was wrong somewhere - in my paranoid mind thought I'd fry everything in one hit lol.. not a lot to go wrong really is there only the heatsink was a pain to fit..
