baba147
I am creating a scene which includes a lot of grass...i wanted to use vraydisplacement to create grass and convert it to vray proxy... prolem is that vray proxy only works with static geometry...whereas displacement is dynamic(i.e. calculated on render time)... if i export any object with vraydisplacement modifier to vrmesh...and then use its proxy...the proxy object becomes totally flat..it doesnt retain its displacement...there is no way to collapse vraydisplacement to make it permanent... it is the way vray proxy is supposed to work...but i need it the other way around... is there anything which can convert vraydisplacement to static geometry before render??? or Is there any other workaround??? thanks
dagor
may be i`m wrong, but proxy work with dynamic geo very well! can you show where did you know that proxy use statyc (help or forum link)?
baba147
I dont remember where i read that...but it is whats happening to me... i apply a vraydisplacement modifier on an object...the displacement isnt applied in viewport...it is applied at render time...so if i export the object as vrmesh then it is exported as it is in viewport(which is undisplaced)...vray mesh export simply ignores the displacement modifier... also it is written in vray help that vraydisplacement modifier has no effect on vrayproxy objects... The only solution i have found is to use max's displace modifier on a high polygon object(which applies displacement in viewport)...then we can collapse the modifier stack and export the displaced object as vrmesh. have you tried using vrayproxy with vrayfur and vray displacement??? both doesnt work with vrayproxy for me... Chad Warner
What about using the displacement map in the VrayMtl? That should work on the proxy.
