ruds
Does anybody have any tips / links to tutorials to how I could render a Sketchup perspective in photoshop? I have attached the file of the image i attempt to render in photoshop. I tried the rendering in Sketchup, it looks ok if you apply a few base materials/textures (such as metal and wood) but when I try and render the whole thing in sketchup it just doesn't look good. I also want to be able to add some depth with light etc. I have a basic understanding of photoshop (enought to get me by) but not enough to know how to render properly (at the moment I am just using the fill tool with colours). Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated!

AJLynn
That's nice. If you could align the wood pattern to the surfaces it might be an improvement but maybe that's not what you're going for. I do think Sketchup can help for this kind of thing by doing some 3D things for you - mapping the textures, some transparencies and the shadows - and using separate layers for line, shadow and color can be very helpful as well. AJLynn
Wait. If the videss and books are legal to share - if you're the author, or they're public domain work - then try again with Rapidshare, Megaupload or similar, or zip the files and if they are smal enought use Manage Attachments to send them up to this site with you post. If the images are somebody else's copyrighted material, please do not upload them. Just tell us what they are, what you like about them and where we can get them. ruds
Dhar, I like your work very much. How did you learn to render like that? Ie what tools do you use? I am also curious as to how you create the glow around the lights...
michael.russick
search the forums... I am pretty sure there are a few tutorials out there... I remember seeing an excellent example about a month ago. pushpullbar forum is a sketchup forum and has a great technique which I've been using for interior shots called the Worncall Technique. You need to get the ruby plugin, displaytemplate.rb, which exports I think 6 different filtered views out of sketchup allowing you to fake GI.
