Use the SOLPROF command

1. Go to layout, make a model view window, do not bother about scale

2. Set the view as you like eg. top, left ...

3. Type SOLPROF at the command line while you are INSIDE the model window

4. Select ALL objects, type yes or no to the other options...

5. Press Enter

6. Go to model , there is a flatten version of your 3d objects in a new layer...

You can also use the FLATTEN command but it destroys your 3d object

Have fun!

if you are using 2007/2008 there are better tools than SOLPROF

try any of the three (depending on your needs)

1.) extract edges (XEDGES)

2.) flatshot (FLATSHOT)

3.) live section (SECTIONPLANE)

i've yet to really come to grips with the difference between 1.) and 2.) and live section can be a little fussy, but works well.
