Eric
I'm trying to link in a model created in Autocad 2000, but the cylinder objects (tables and ceiling mounted light fixtures) are coming in looking like stop signs. They only have 12 sides. What setting is it to increase the number of sides of my cylinderical objects? facetres in Autocad is set to 8. I've set my curve steps to 100 in VIZ (file link basic settings) and smooth angle to 3, but no luck. Any ideas?
CHE
Try Facetres 10 CAD and autosmooth in VIZ. They are 2D shapes right? Try Isolines (CAD) if they are 3D objects. 36 would do it, play around with those settings. Good luck.

vizwhiz
hi There Eric, have you tried adjusting the ACIS Surface Deviation in VIZ? try a much lower number 0.1 is the default, try even 0.01 re-load, and see what happens Thanks Randy
Eric
Unfortunately I don't have email at home, so I wasn't able to check the responses to my post over the weekend, and I had to figure out the answer myself. It was the ACIS surface deviation. Dropped it way down, and it made a HUGE improvement. Thanks Vizwiz. I only wish I would have seen your email before I flipped my lid at home over the weekend trying to find the answer myself. Ever notice some areas of the MAX/VIZ help files are extremely detailed, others get nothing more than a definition or passing glance? I hate that. spring
reducing ACIS Surface deviation to .001 in the File Linking process is a good way...
