displacement map... hedge creation

Hi;

I am trying to displace a texture map to create a garden hedge

the map displaces along the hedge length instead of across its width...

how can i filp this.... at the minute im getting the jaggy effect at the

2 ends of the hedge rather than along the sides and top of the hedge.

Any ideas?

Hope i explained that ok!!!
