London Olympics 2012 - Stadium Animation

It was made by Squint Opera. Check out their "Gardens by the Bay" animation.

That was great. I loved the integration of conceptual sketches. It was very loose and energetic. It's too bad their still renderings leave much to be desired. Their film making ability is where their talents are. Perhaps they could be edited down a bit though. Some are too long and boring. The effects and artistry is great though, even in the ones that are too long.

I certainly don't mean to berate anyones work, especially yours Nils. I've always enjoyed chatting you up at Siggraph and I do respect and appreciate the work you and your company do.

No offense taken Brian, I totally understand where you are coming from, in many ways it can all be chalked up to "Commercialism" there are pure art forms and then there are those meant to get a reaction from people that lead them to part with there money. I always tell the guys here that if I am in a good mood then the movie is being driven by a "plot device" when things have been stressful and I am having a hard day that same thing may be referred to as a "gimmick".

In the end we are trying to keep things as fresh as we can, provide something that keeps our clients ahead of the Jonses and in the end provides a service to the client (most often a developer).

One other quick point is that we are made up 40% of people with architecture backgrounds, but the interactive group, design group, film group and some of our 3d artists come from other disciplines, so we try to keep things fresh by allowing many creative voices.

In the end it is a fun job and we are just grateful that we get paid to come to work and make cool stuff.

Dear all. I'm slightly biased towards both films , well because I work in squint... Like what was said, it is always a fine balance to produce a great film and to fulfill the brief.

P.S. Nils - Thanks for the compliments. Drop by the studio sometime when you are in london.
