proces2
i am trying to create an animation where the movement of the sun is animated as well. i got the settings pared down enough so that i can recalculate the radiosity for each frame and render within a reasonable amount of time. i am having a problem, though, with flickering in the shadow areas of the model. i posted a short (and 1/2 size) clip of the animation. sun-shadow animation the flickering is most obvious underneath the cantilevered part of the design. i am not using regathering. is there an issue with using logarithmic exposure control and animation? could the refine iterations be causing the problem? sean
abicalho
Sean, That flicker is caused because your radiosity is solved at every frame. There are slightly different solutions for each frame, and the solution is to solve to a little higher quality. Example: if you're set to 85, solve up to 90 or 95%. Hope it helps, Alexander
proces2
I actually had it set to 50%. i was enough quality to get a good image, and didn't take to long to calculate. i'll bump it up to 85%, and see what i get. thanks, sean
Craig Ramsay
Do you really nead to use radiosity for your animation? From what I have seen you could fake the radiosity with direct illumination and save huge amounts of rendering time Just a thought Craig
