Eric
Two totally different programs. One is basically 2D (Autocad) and the other is basically 3D (VIZ). Go to Autodesk to find out more specific information about the two programs. You can also find screen shots there as well. Personally, I use both programs. For construction documents (floor plans, etc.) I use Autocad. For modelling, I use Autocad. For rendering out to 3D images, I use VIZ. You could purchase Accurender to use inside of Autocad, but the image quality is not as good as you can get with VIZ. Some people here model with VIZ rather than Autocad. It's whatever you're comfortable with. You should start with looking at the Autodesk website though for information about the differences between the two programs. schmoron13
I was in the same boat, and actually ended up going with 3ds max 5...I still have acad 14 from back in the day, so if I need to look at a drawing or modify blue prints I use that, but I pretty much like 3ds max for modeling and rendering....how much are you looking to spend, and what are you profficient in...that can make a huge difference
hadi
Hi, thanks for the replsy, i use autocad or modeling and rendering the 3d for both interior and exterior, and the result is not very good, now i think i'll try to use VIZ thanks!
John Dollus
Ask your AutoCad dealer about upgrading to Revit. Accurender is included with that package and the upgrade should cost less than purchasing Viz not to mention the fact that you stay in one application to do everything. stefkeB
upgrading to ADT 2004 would be a nice option, with the included VIZ-Render engine
