SgWRX
i have a window and i noticed when i set GI to on, max. num. of photons per sample set to 1 i see no photons except a few around the frame of the window which appear to be on the outside-side of the window. i have the windows object properties unchecked for cast shadows. if i hide the window, i can see the photons when i render. what did i miss? you can't shoot photons through a window? the material for the window is a multi sub object with arch & design glass (thin walled) template. the main light is a mr area spot. 40000 avg gi photons per light. thanks
Justin Hunt
chack the objects mentray properties and uncheck generate photons. Generally though if you are using an Arch&Design shader (which I recommend) it has a photon shader built in thus telling mr how that surface will react to photons. If you are not using a A&D or mr shader then drop a photon shader into the photons slot. HTH JHV
shaneis
Have you connected the photonic attribtes to the material to allow the photons through? On a similar note, photons will pass through the "glass" just as they would in the real world - except in the case of caustic photons.
