viz license policy

Has anyone ever purchased autodesk viz or 3ds max 2nd hand, for example on ebay ? Do autodesk still have a 'non-transferable license' policy ? Anybody have any experience with this ?

i think there is an old thread on this somewhere, regarding autodesk sueing someone for reselling old cad software.

They wont even let you buy the same programme in the states (half the price) and register it here.

 

Rang the Auto desk Helpline several months back to ask a similar question we had a young designer join and hed seen a copy of AutoCad 2002 for sale on ebay and wanted to buy it for training at home. The answer was noway would it be legal!!!!!!

Ok slight exaggeration on my behalf, the average price of Max 2008 in the UK is £2290 ( $4680) and as far as I’m aware in the US the average price seems to be around $3250 (£1590).....!!!
