Unit conversion in Autocad 2008 LT

Ok I know this is a stupid question but for whatever reason its not doing what I expect it to. I have a drawing that is in Feet and Inches and I just want to convert it into meters or millimeters. So I go to Format and Units and it does change the units but I does not scale the drawing accordingly. Now when I used to do this in ADT 2006 it did it with no problem, does LT not have this function then?

unfortunately not.....

autocad requires the user to determine what the decimal unit represents (in this case let's say millimeters)

when you change the drawing units (like you did) you need to scale up your drawing by the conversion from a base unit of inches to decimal (millimeters)

as a simple formula then it is 1"=25.4mm (or how many mm are in an inch)

thus the drawing needs to be scaled up by 25.4...make sure you don't have any layers off/frozen/locked.

it sounds like a big hassle, but it not really when you understand it.

hope that helps

What I do, it might come handy to you, is to insert the dwg to be converted in a dwg with a scale bar, I have two, one for each system (imperial/metric) and scale dwg to that reference. from there(mine is metric) I can go up or down (kms/cm/mm, etc). It might be obvious. Also to have the alternate units turned on and set to metric on the dimension styling. I my case I think in metric, so its tough to convert in my mind imperial... a matter of time dealing with it I guess.
