pailhead
I have a .dwg file with a bunch of survey data, and among others, there is a layer containing elevated points. Is there a way to use these points to create something that could later be used as terrain in 3d studio max? Can i create a 3d terrain using these points in CAD itself, or can they be connected with lines somehow, so that they can be converted into terrain in max afterwards. Either is fine. BobM
You can join the points with 3D polyines and from them create a a mesh of the whole terain. BobM
pailhead
The thing is VERY dense, i'm not sure if this is the right way to go, it would take countless hours to achieve this. I'm sure that there is a solution for this, but it may be that some sort of a plugin is needed.

EasySite is an AutoCAD plugin that you can demo for 15 days for free. It sells for $495. http://www.cadeasy.com/ I use it on all of my large-scale terrain models because it makes the process easier and even enjoyable. PM me if you want to see/learn more...
