Hey guys I have been messing with 3ds Max the last few months and am trying to find a way to render parking lots. I have figured how to do alot of different projects with it but cant find any tuts on how to do a parking lot. I dont need anything to crazy just would like to know how to do them. Here is a link to the drawing I am using from autodesk. http://jaypage.com/test%20model.pdf The building comes up fine and I can add texture and materials to it but cant figure out how to add them to the parking lot. Anyways any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

jay

Check out the Visualisation Insider series on this site if you haven't already. Always a good start - http://www.cgarchitect.com/upclose/VI/default.asp

Archvision RPC parking lot cars are a good way to populate your scene and they render quickly. As long as you have enough different kinds though, nothing throws off the sense of realism like having 3 blue Subaru Impreza's in a row!

one thing that helps me is bringing in the cad drawing and using the sweep modifier on the curb lines and sidewalks to build them faster. Use the sweep on all the parking lines at the same time, make them 4" wide and really thin, then set them right ontop of the pavement.

Use the self illumination map for the lines or vray light material.
