ZFact
Hi; I am about to build a new workstation but do not know what to put in the dam thing... I want to go for a quad quad machine with XP 64 bit... i will be using the machine for a workstation.. 3d modelling,, texturing; rendering and animation and some graphic design work also. I will be using Cinema 4D, Vray, FR2, photoshop and AE on it. Can someone advice me on the spec of machine I should be going for... how much RAM, what graphics card, what processors, what mother board etc etc? and anything else I should consider... i am useless at IT so please treat me as if I know nothing!! Was thinking something like this 2X Intel Q6800 4G Memory AMD ATI 2900HD 512m GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3/S3 Thanks
AJLynn
The Intel Q series (an anything with Core 2 in the name) can't go dual CPU. You would need Xeons for that. Much more expensive, but with better rendering speed. At this level I wouldn't go with an ATI HD series card. I've been trying to use one and the drivers have been frustratingly buggy. Try an nVidia 8800GT.

ZFact
That sounds great. Assuming money really is going out of style. Ok.. perhaps a bit much... iv been told to consider the mac pro 8.. and run windows xp 64 on it... im told its really stabble.. my only concern would be how it will, interact with the other PCs on the network.. and will all the software run on it ok? Any advice on this?
