dobilan
Hi, I have a request, from a client, for an interactive presentation for up to 8 medium-sized industrial buildings. The clients requested that they could move/orbit/zoom around(and in) the buildings and change some (3-4) paint schemes in order to determine the best one. They insisted on this kind of presentation vs. some stills/animation. I have experience in MAX (various stills and animations) but apart some VR presentations in VIEWPOINT long time ago, I have nothing in the interactive/VR. The timing is not very tight (2.5 months) and with the prospect for some more presentations, I am prepared to spend some money and time for this project, so I ask for some advice for some software/plugin to achieve this. Thanks

devres
This is what we specialize in. If you need more assistance please feel free to call the studio. All you would need to do is supply your scene and we'll export it as a self executable for you for use with an Xbox game controller. Best Regards, Todd http://www.dev-res.com

Dave Buchhofer
Its far from difficult, but theres a lot of things you need to take into account when building your model. Think of it more like building a model for 1995 in terms of the amount of restrictions put on you by most realtime engines Realtime Engines. I personally use Virtools, but i'm more in the category of application programming than strict architectual vis. and I can't in honesty reccomend them for that even due to their vague publishing, and steadily increasing price as they try and focus on the manufacturing/automotive scenes. One I tend to reccomend is Quest3D if you want to get to a fair amount of interactivity/Flexibility without restrictive licensing and publishing and without getting heavy into the programming side of things. Its a bit overkill for what you're looking to do on just this project, but the documentation is decent and it has fair video tutorials through their Wiki. Alternatively, I'd say to look into Turntool, Cult3D, and RtRe. I haven't personally used any of these in many years, but they're probably easier to get up and running with, albeit not nearly as flexible. Or if you have access to a Mac for a Development platform, Unity3D is a nice system (interactivity based one Javascript, or any of the .net languages though, so some programming required.) You'll also want to look into Baking most likely, if you're in max, Render To Texture will be both great and evil all at once.
