jorisAR
I made a terrain with differences in height in max 9 and now I want to export it to Sketchup so that other people can also work with it (those who can't work with max). Yet when I want to make a .3ds file, it says 'too many vertices, cannot export'. I already thought this would happen, but how can I solve this? How can I get this model into Sketchup? Perhaps there are some plug-ins or scripts that can fix this. Thanks Joris
voltaire_ira
try exporting the terrain using .dwg format.

STRAT
vert limits in .3ds files has been a constant issue in all .3ds files (not just max) since the .3ds format was invented years ago. you either break up large objects into smaller separate objects then .3ds them out, or try a more universal format like DXF
olbo
@jorisAR You could also try to save it as .obj and then use a Ruby script to import it. AFAIK the script works "so lala", but you can give it a try anyway. ;o) SKU OBJ import: example : download take care Oleg
