david.jones
---------------------------------------------------------------- SHORT TITLE FOR SUGGESTION/BUG/ENHANCEMENT REQUEST ---------------------------------------------------------------- Better Layer Filtering - especially with XREFs --------------------------------------------------------------- DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF YOUR REQUEST --------------------------------------------------------------- Further to Rick Eloys point about improved CAD integration. The ability to subdivide where layers come from within the layer manager. So that Xref'd layeres clearly show as such, and file linked layers too etc. --------------------------------------------------------------- WHY THIS REQUEST IS IMPORTANT TO YOU --------------------------------------------------------------- Something i find very frustrating is using AutoCAD files within max, especially when i need to regularly update from my colleagues endlessly revised drawings, its the fact that their long list of layers gets all mixed up with my own layering structure. Currently i stick a zero infront of all my layers to keep them all at the top, but i shouldnt need to do that. If these could be somehow filtered seperately, xref layers, file linked layers and working layers it would make life so much easier.
BrianKitts
if I can add my opinion.... and I'd like to hear others.... I wish that an xref would not show all it's layers. If I have a scene or object xref'd into a scene.... I do not plan on manipulating it by it's individual layers.... and I hate having all of the xref'd layers clogging up my layers pallette. Half the time I leave the visibility of xref's turned off anyways.
