columns in acad archi

i have autocad architecture 2008

 

1-i use walls very well but can't use columns(contcrete column not steel) well,i cant change their dimentions only height and some useless funcs can edittable ,i may use wall instead of it or concrete pier but why cant i change column dimention or edit.Columns are good with column grid so i would like to use them in my project..

2-Railings are good but i cant assemble them.Is there a way to do this.my stairs railings and slab railings are doesnt assembling well.i tried to draw both of them but 3d anchoring is very complicated and doesnt work properly(i can do, acad cant )

3-stairs doesnt display steps all time.i change something than step lines goes off ,there is display control but no option for steps.
