@lkion O
Hello everyone, this is a question for all the VIZ 4 users. Untill now i ve come across with the acronym HDRI several times. Although i was so excited about it i never sat down to check how the procedure works - lack of time-. Fortunately a friend of mine - 4Dxl user showed some renderings which were using Debevec's technique. I was so amazed by the result that i asked him to show me the procedure. Unfortunately- or not- im a max + viz user. I know that max 5 supports hdr images as floating point tiffs but what happens with VIZ?Is there any way i can have HDRI lighting in renderings? If not should i purchase a renderer? Thank you

quizzy
http://www.splutterfish.com/sf/downloads/max/hdri/HDRI_v1.0.1.zip this one lets you import hdri maps as bitmap in your material editor... if you want to use GI then you need a render plugin such as brazil, vray, mental ray, etc.. Or if you want to use fakeiosity then maybe the hdri_domelight script is something for you.. hope this helps
abicalho
Or what about using a Texture Sky that uses the HDR file as its texture? The only 3rd party plugin you need is the HDR I/O. Alexander

sergio rocha
yeps. abicalho is right...you can get nice results when importing it to viz as skylight.´ you will need to open your map in your mat editor (output sets)and turn it to envoriment map with sphericall envoriment and play with rgb level until the result satisfies you.
