For those familiar with taking a ArchiCad files into Max, whats the best practise? Any tips/tricks? Any help appreciated, as the clients a biggun' and they want it done 2 weeks ago Cheers!! For this archicad file, what format are you getting from them? i used to use the ArchiCAD to max work flow for ages and had a pretty nice little system going, so i can help u as much as i can. BrianKitts Posted November 28, 2007 Share Posted November 28, 2007 yup... check out the script.... and if you don't... safest route is to have them export you a .3ds file, and make sure @ export they set the system unit to 1000mm. Regardless of if you are working in inches or otherwise your export has to be at 1000mm I gave up on trying to figure it out, but it works so even though I use our lovely crazy american inches, it all works perfect, so I've just accepted it. take a peek at this thread (also has the link for the script that was mentioned) http://www.cgarchitect.com/vb/4377-scale-problems-archicad-exports.html Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Gday mate - very very busy; and getting busier the closer we get to that horrible Xmas date. Still awaiting supply of the file - I do however have a copy of ArchiCad 10 we use in the studio here. The file i have is v10 luckily, so I downloaded all the Cadimage tools etc and installed them, but when I try pulling up the 3d model of the file, I get a Cadimage Macro error... Nic H Posted December 5, 2007 Share Posted December 5, 2007 Hey Ky, make sure whoever sends you the ArchiCAD fle sends it as a archive (.pla) so it include all external material / references etc. I work with archiCAD -->max alot and have only really found those plugins useful for welding verts.
