Claudio Branch
This is a high-poly model that I did with Max and rendered with V-Ray. I have just started using V-Ray, so I wanted to focus on the building materials and lighting before incorporating it into a site. I am using a direct light and a V-Ray dome light. Primary bounce is IM and Secondary bounce is LC. C&C's always welcomed...
Spooner04
Claudio, It looks pretty good. I think the context will make a big difference, one way or the other. Just curious, why did you go with a dome light/direct light, and not the vray sky/sun?
Claudio Branch
...why did you go with a dome light/direct light, and not the vray sky/sun? Thanks for the remarks. I chose the dome light primarily because I was also playing around with HDRI lighting as well. I am still having some issues with the reflections in my windows using the HDRI though. These windows are a VRayMatl with fairly high-reflectivity and an image of a sky in the diffuse slot. I did Brian Smith's on-line V-Ray video tuts and then chased it with Christopher Nichols interior/exterior V-Ray lighting DVD's. So, I guess I am drunk on technique, or put another way - I barely know what the HELL I am doing. Check back with me in a year...
RodT
It looks like your reflections are working. The background appears white to me, but the building on the right building is reflecting nicely in your left building. I think you just need something more to have reflected.
