newbie question about VIZ

Hello -

I'm looking into purchasing either MAX or VIZ, and I'm not sure which way to go. I only do still work, so I don't expect to need the extra features built into MAX and I'm tempted to go with VIZ with its lower cost, but at the same time I'm concerned that VIZ may not be compatible with as many 3rd party plugins (such as Vray, Brazil, RPC, Bionatics, etc.) and that Autodesk may not be supporting the product for very much longer. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Also, does anyone have experience with the subscription method of software licencing (are there any headaches that aren't obvious)?

Thanks in advance for your help!

3rd party renderers and plugins work fine on viz, and the viz line will have continued support.

even if it doesn't in the future, discreet/autodesk wont let it's viz stronghold down :)

i'd get max if i had the dosh, but the only added bonus is as you say - the extra animation tools (plus it does have a few extras like better particles, uv unwrapping etc etc)
