AJLynn
nVidia 8800GT. It's actually faster than the GTS despite being cheaper and using less power.

ZFact
What do you think of this card? slightly more expensive but is it worth it?? nvidia GeForce 8800 Ultra 768mb
AJLynn
It's going to do the same thing but a bit faster. If that's worth it to you, go for it.
ZFact
someone mentioned that i should be thinking about quadros... what would you opinion be on these... too expensive??
AJLynn
Depends what software you're running. ...? You use Cinema, right? A Quadro will run Cinema faster, but it costs a lot. Also, it needs to be one of the higher end Quadros to beat an 8800.
ZFact
ok.. i think i'll run with the 8800 then... thanks Andrew
AJLynn
Funny story. I've got a motherboard problem and I'm waiting for a fix. I have full res, full bit depth video using the VgaSave driver only - my screen looks fine but it has no 2D or 3D acceleration at all. Everything involving the display is incredibly slow. Except for ADT. The menus are slow, the layer pulldown is really slow, but everything involving the drawing area is almost as fast as it usually is. Apparently AutoCAD is the only modern program that doesn't require a video card.
Dave Buchhofer
yea, by default autocad isn't even accelerated.. unless you go pretty deep into the options and tell it specifically to be!
