adamantine
Hello all, Attached is my self explanatory problem. I would like to have sky and tree outside the window to be not ridiculously bright. Draft render with FG and GI enabled Mental ray with daylight system (mr sky and mr sun) with logarithmic exposure control (exterior daylight off). Thank you!!! Tommy L
Looks like light leaks due to geometry issues and wrong exposure settings.
Justin Hunt
There are a whole heap of problems there, from poor modelling to incorrect GI settings, to incorrect exposure control post your GI and exposure control settings JHV
adamantine
Thank you guys! First I want to point out that this is a draft rendering (low FG, and 10000 GI, I think). Before I left office I didn't have time to render high quality, so.. I should have done more explanation, my mistake. Yes it may have modeling errors, straight import from Revit, but when I render high quality (like i bump up the numbers) the render got much better and the modeling errors do not cause too much blotchy light leaks. The problem I want to point out is the bright outside light. If I set "exterior daylight" to ON, the outside light is OK but the interior become almost black, when I turn it off, vice versa (like in that attached picture above). I would like to have both interior and outside view at a reasonable brightness. I don't remember the settings, I'll post tomorrow from office. Dave Buckley
which version of max are you using? in max 2008, the sky portal feature will help you greatly without the need for GI, you can just use FG with the sky portal. Check it out
adamantine
I used daveb867's suggestion for mr sky portal, and changed the exposure control to mr photographic exposure control. At least the tree is a lil bit better. I agree with Brian also. Thank you, guys!
