maxs Posted December 7, 2007 Share Posted December 7, 2007 hi, i have a problem, when i push the "get material button" in the mat editor, the "material/map browser" window doesn`t appear. had the same problem some time ago in max 8, with the "render scene" window. solved it with your help by removing the 3dsmax. ini file and restarting max. tried the same with max 9 now, but found no 3dsmax.ini in the 3dsmax directory. thanks for your suggestions. maxs Posted December 7, 2007 Author Share Posted December 7, 2007 thanks matt, found the 3dsmax.ini, removed it to the desktop, and restarted max, but still the material map browser does not appear. found a lot of infos about lost mateditor windows, and how to make it visible, for example method with "m, alt, left, up....etc." http://www.maxforums.org/thread.aspx?tid=355602 i would like to try it this way, but coul not find out the shortcut for the material/map browser, please help. "you dont need a keybaord short cut for the window if you have the button on the screen, just press it to open the material browser (even if you cant see it) then hit Alt, Spacebar, then go down the 'move' and use the cursor keys, (hitting spacebar saves you having to do all that up-left nonsense :)" Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Crazy Homeless Guy Posted July 27, 2008 Share Posted July 27, 2008 hey max, i have the same problem..usually solve it with the alt left down down enter workaround, but surely there must be a proper solution for this?! that is the proper solution, the other methods listed are work arounds. this typically happens when you are working on 2 monitors and switch to one, or you change to a lower resolution when you were working in a higher. your window is just off screen, and you need to ring it back in. i have accidentally moved a window off screen without switching monitors or resolution, but it isn't that easy.
