Hi everyone,

I am will Morris and i live in south wales in the uk. I have been trainee technician for 3 years now and the last 8 months I have been producing a lot of our proposed buildings in sketchup and getting to grips with vray. I also been practicing with 3ds max & revit etc. I feel that 3D visualization is the route i want to go down. But i feel that it is difficult getting time to get really good at it in my current job, as i have other duties such as detailing.

Could somebody give me some advice how to get into it?? i have the desire and passion for it, and pick software up very quick!!

Would anybody know if there are any 3D companys in cardiff or near cardiff that would be willing to take somebody on??

Would be very very much appreciated if somebody could get back to me!!!

Thank you all!!

Yea it's all about practising, setting up some scenes and getting renders out and showing them to studios and people for criticism and then taking them back to improve on...or taking what you already have and use a the basis of a portfolio - You mentioned you model in sketchup, these models can be rendered and touched up to form the modelling side of your portfolio so not everything has to be photorealistically polished.

You already have 3 years technician and previously modelling experience so that is already a huge bonus to add onto your CV. Most studios in the UK use 3d Max, Vray and photoshop so they would be looking for people with knowledge of this software but some studios are more leniant and allow u to have some transistion time.

I got my first job in visualisation without an image of anything of real substance...some lighting tests of a white block model of a house and some previous university cartoon animations... but then again I had to join at a junior level and work upwards... You might be able to go in as medium weight as you have architectural experience
