robkar97
I'm in need of a program that can edit AutoCAD DWG drawings before importing them to 3ds max 2008. The basic cleaning up routine: erasing, extending, trimming, creating boundaries, etc. However, I only to this like 2-3 times a year, so it would be overkill to get a full AutoCAD (or even AutoCAD LT) license. Skechup just gets me confused :-) Is this something that can be used? Any ideas for a cheap program that can to the trick? Aaron2004
Well, this would only work for each release, but you COULD just use the demo.

robkar97
Thanks everybody! The concept of using trial versions is quite nice... Usually, a new release comes every year, and each trial is valid for 30 days. I've done this quite a few times - and I often end up buying the product if it is good (so the software developers benefit from this too). Hurray for trials! As for the other software, I'll look into it. Those cad programs are new to me. I don't think Illustrator is very practical for more than the very basic changes... Rhino sounds a little overkill (?). bjornkn
If you get confused by SketchUp I wonder how those full CAD programs will work? SketchUp can certainly do the job. It's very easy and fast to clean up dwg drawings and models with it. I bought TurboCad some years ago just to clean up dwg files, but I never use it any longer after I got SketchUp.
