Stephen Thomas
I can't for the life of me figure this one out! As you can see from the image the uplighter seems to be getting cut off by something, while the downlighter is fine. I've tried changing from spots to IES, turning the lights through 180 degrees, remaking the wall geometry, changing the camera view. All with no effect. There is no hidden geometry there so what could it be? This is driving me nuts!! Can anyone shed any light on the problem (pardon the pun). Tommy Burns
Is it not just the shadow from the ledge above it created by an exterior light? Looks like that?

Stephen Thomas
Even if I isolate the light and the wall, it is still the same.
Ricardo Eloy
Have you tried changing the angle of the light? Maybe it has something to do with the IES file you chose.
Tommy Burns
try a completely new light maybe or copy and rotate the one below it Anyway let us know what it was when you fix it
Stephen Thomas
Seems to be to do with my camera view, when I change to orthogonal it renders fine.
Stephen Thomas
Okay, I set up a test scene to illustrate. First image - camera straight on. Second image - camera pointing up with camera correction. Third image - camera pointing down with camera correction. P.S. Works fine in scanline, so must be a vray issue. Koper
and without camera correction?
Stephen Thomas
and without camera correction? Works fine without, but I already have the shot set up and its been approved. Quite a tall lobby space so can't really lose the correction and still show everything I want to. Just adding some lights next to the lift as chosen by the architect, but keep running into this problem.
Nic H
Iv had exactly the same problem with camera correction in the past....took me ages to work out what it was. I didn't find a way around it. I also sometimes get 'bent reflections' i.e at 15 degrees from vertical when using camera correction

I had Max-compatible shade context box checked in the system rollout. Should have noticed the error message before.
